Romeo and Juliet Brazilian Dessert

So, my friend introduced me to this Brazilian dessert called Romeo and Juliet and, of course, I tried it, then tweeked it a little. Here is the tweeked version :-)

The recipe:
1/2 - 1 cup sugar- caramelized (just put the sugar in a saucepan and stir over medium heat until it turns into a brown liquid)

1 can sweetened condensed milk
2 cans evaporated milk
3 eggs
1/2 tsp vanilla flavoring

1 box extra moist yellow cake mix (add eggs or oil or whatever the box says to mix in)

Instructions:
Pam spray a bundt pan
Put the caramlized sugar on the bottom of the bundt pan
Pour in 1/2-3/4 of the Flan mixture (eggs/milk mixture)
Pour in the Yellow cake mix
Put the bundt pan in a 13x9 pan and fill the 13x9 pan with about 1 1/2- 2 cups water
Bake for 55 minutes at 350'F
Refrigerate for at least 1-2 hours. Its best when refrigerated over night :-)
Flip out of the bundt pan and serve it up cold! Mmmmm!

You can't fit all the flan mixture and/or cake mixture in, but I like more cake than flan. The milks from the flan mixture soak into the cake while it is baking and it tastes a lot like Tres Leches Cake. Mmmm! The original recipe is made with a chocolate cake mix and there is no Vanilla flavoring in the flan. The original recipe also calls for 1 cup of caramilzed sugar, but it never fully comes out of the pan when you flip it over. So, I figure you can use less.

My brother helping me out in the kitchen :-) He doubted the whole caramelazation process...but was soon amazed!
Because the flan and cake mix are different densities, they separate during the baking process. When you pour the cake batter in, it will look like it is mixing together, but it actually separates into perfect little layers :-)

The finished product!!!!!

That looks AMAZING, and I very conveniently just bought a bundt pan a few weeks ago that I have, sadly, only used twice. Time for a third cake, methinks!
