So, the red velvet cake was-- cake. It was good, don't get me wrong, but I'm just not a huge cake person. BUT, I gained TWO little gems when making this cake:
1) My roommate Nattalie has the BEST buttercream frosting recipe EVER!
2) Making cake rounds with parchment paper (circle cut-outs in the bottom of the pan) is the ONLY way to do it! The cake rounds popped right out!
NATTALIE'S BUTTERCREAM FROSTING:
MIX together until fluffy:
4 cups powdered sugar
1/4 c. flour
1/2 c. butter
Add until thickens:
1/8 c. milk
1 tsp flavoring (I use vanilla, but you could experiment)
Add milk until it comes to the right consistency:
1/8 c. milk
